In the education Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC-LEO) of Triangular Group Academy, law enforcement officers and first responders are educated to perform tactical and medical actions in situations with high risk.
When a safety professional is confronted with a medical case during the performance of their tasks, a tension field occurs between the execution of the initial assignment and granting medical help. In other words: a non-medic safety professional is being forced to choosing between acting tactical and medical. Therefore assessing the situation correctly is of great importance, because the personal safety of the professional and that of the victim determines which actions fit within the risk picture of the situation that has arisen.
The professional itself can also be victim of a trauma, or there are multiple victims. In this case, the first medical help is the one of the security professionals on the spot. In situations with high risk, such as a terrorist attack, the area around the attack ('hot zone') is closed for medical care providers, because the well-being can't be assured. In this situation it is impossible to treat victims, causing law enforcement officers to treat, or stabilise, the wounded for quick removal of the injured. In the TECC-LEO course law enforcement officers are trained how to act in such a situation, according to an evidence-based protocol.
The TECC-LEO training takes two days and can be extended with additional days of training, where, for deepening, various scenario's are being offered based on professional contex.
TECC-LEO finishes with a, by NAEMT recognised, certificate. This certificate is valid for 4 years. TGA offers the TECC-LEO training incompany and based on open registration
